& Rustic/Log Hutch/Base Cabinet

The base carcass was assembled and the log legs and trim were applied. The bottom log (trim) is actually a split log whish was planed smooth and glued and doweled to the carcass.
The inside was stained and finished with a polyurethane to make the final assembly and finish less cumbersome. In addition, finishing the interior wood seals the wood and helps to prevent splitting and checking.
The bottom cabinet is huge... one could almost sleep inside there. It also does not have a shelf. That design flaw was at the request of my bride who had some large cooking implements (roaster oven, bread maker, etc.) she wanted to store in this area. Hey, I take my orders and just build what she wants!
